Greetings Queen Mother

I wish to bring to your attention the fact that we have an insurance program in effect for all red hat chapters other than those in Quebec, Labrador and Newfoundland (due to their laws for insurance differ form ours) and for those who are presently in the program, to advise you of some significant changes made this month. It is most unfortunate but there have been law suits brought against Queen Mothers, their chapters and some members of their chapters, in both Canada and the USA. Their have also been some red hatters who have unfortunately been in recent automobile accidents. We are, unfortunately, becoming a more litigious society.

Our insurance agent and I have worked very hard with the underwriters to revise our current insurance program and as a result we have recently undergone some major changes in the policies with regard to structure and rates. I wanted to pass this new information on to you as soon as possible so that when setting your chapters membership fees you can add in the cost of the insurance.

We’ve tried to help those lucky enough to be Snowbirds, by offering the option of sending in your information early with a post-dated cheque.

I am very pleased with the new lower rate which at 66 cents/month ($8/yr per member) is affordable to all and very inexpensive for the peace of mind it brings. To purchase this same coverage on your own as an addition to your homeowners policy would cost in excess of $750.00 so we’ve managed to get you an excellent rate!

In addition there is no longer a $10 registration/administration cost up front and new chapters are now able to join the program at any time of the year.

We now require the legal names of all members as every member is listed as an “insured” on your policy.

We’ve revised our processing methods too and you should receive your receipt and confirmation of coverage as soon as your payment has been received.

If you would like information, please do not hesitate to contact me. Click here to send me an email

Happy Hatting!
